This is a good-looking and classic motorcycle jacket for the street rider that has many features that have set a standard for other jackets now on the market. First appearing in the late nineties, these jackets really became popular in 2001 with the introduction of the Vortech model. It's changed some over time, but only with improvements.
Some magazine and radio commentators on motorcycle apparel, gear, and riders will still mention this jacket as the benchmark to compare other jackets to. It's that classic. Olympia first made their name making gloves for various sports, including motocross and then street bikers. Naturally, the branched out into other clothing, including leather jackets.
First, the Vortech doesn't look like something a punk high school kid on his street rocket would wear. It has real style and delivers high on quality too. You won't find huge, overdone graphics and logos on this jacket. Instead, you find clean lines, great colors, and small details that say “speed is my friend” without overstating it.
Great flexibility build-ins are also here, and fast became industry-standard for higher-end motor sports gear. Articulated elbows, lower shoulders (so they don't “crown” or bunch up while riding), heavy leather in all the right spots, and full ventilation options for comfort are just a few. The removable liner is an added bonus and the large velcro and zipper pulls make the pockets and zipper easy to operate with gloved hands.
All in all, you won't find a more classic, durable, and understated motorcycle jacket than the Olympia Moto Sports Vortech.
